With a customer avoiding all phone calls, and a quick web search revealing they already had a CCJ, our client decided it was time to call in the experts.
Greenfingers (Kenilworth) Limited had a £2,000 invoice outstanding, but despite their best efforts the customer was avoiding all contact. Keen to get back the money owed, the plant wholesalers instructed Hilton-Baird Collection Services to collect the debt on their behalf.
Upon instruction we quickly got to work in tracking down the customer. But, with the customer’s response relating to the case of Arkell v Pressdram (1971), it quickly became clear that they had no intention of settling the payment.
In what proved to be a complex case, further investigation and a money claim submitted to the court prompted the customer to claim a third party was in fact liable for the debt.
Soon after our client received a cheque from the third party, bringing a successful conclusion to the situation.
